Walsall College launches new vocational A-Level Science course
Walsall College is offering school leavers a brand new Science course that allows them to study an A-Level alongside a vocational BTEC Diploma.
Launching in September, the A-level Biology and Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Applied Science gives students the opportunity to benefit from the academic level of study, as well as understanding the practical aspects of Science.
The course consists of a range of mandatory and optional modules, including the Fundamental of Science, Working in the Science Industry, Scientific Practical Techniques, Science Investigations and more.
Delivered by Walsall College’s outstanding Science staff, the course aims to give students an understanding of Science how underpins modern life, and to allow them to move onto a wide range of careers.
Careers open to students through this course includes Forensic Science, Industry and Technology, Environment and Manufacturing, Biomedical Science and Genetics, Food Science and Medical Support.

Careers within the STEM industry are highly rewarding and lucrative options for students who have a passion for science and problem-solving. They also meet a large demand in the job market, as it is estimated that 700,000 additional STEM technicians will be needed to meet employer demand in the decade to 2014 across the UK.
This course is ideal for high achieving students who want to complete an A-Level for university progression and to learn more practical aspects of science, including laboratory work and detailed analysis.”
