Triple Win for Beauty Students at Walsall College
Three talented beauty students from Walsall College not only competed in The Skills Show Regional Heats in July, but were also awarded with top spots in their chosen skills competition.
At the beginning of each academic year, students are given the opportunity to put themselves forward for the competition with the most dedicated and professional therapists provided with additional training and support to prepare them in the lead up to the competition.
The competitions assess an individual’s knowledge, practical skills and employability attributes against a set of strict criteria. On the 5th of July, Level 3 Beauty Therapy student Stephanie Blower won 2nd place in the Body competition and Level 2 Beauty Therapy student Grace Potter took 3rd place in the Hands and Face competition. A day later in the Hands and Face competition, Level 2 Beauty Therapy student Bailey Wilkin was awarded first place, naming her the best in her chosen field.
Louise Perry, Lecturer in Beauty Therapy said: “We are extremely proud of our students who have shown professionalism, commitment and enthusiasm towards their future. Being a World Skills competitor is recognised within the beauty industry and shows salon owners that they are more employable. This is the first time we have had three students place within the competition which shows the hard work and dedication of both students and staff.”
Walsall College are proud to be sponsoring The Skills Show in November where they’ll also be exhibiting.
