Media make-up artist, Jennifer Lenard, who has worked on numerous TV and film productions including Pride and Prejudice, Atonement, Strictly Come Dancing and The Office in her 25-year career, gave staff an insight into a range of techniques used in the media industry to produce different characters and special effects.
In another workshop, Birmingham based make-up artist Ravita Pannu, who has over 20 years industry experience and is a resident fashion and campaign artist for international magazine, ‘Asiana Wedding’, showed tutors some of the latest beauty trends from contouring to strobing used by professionals to create a range of make-up looks from natural to more dramatic styles.
The sessions were part of the college’s continuing professional development week which ensures teaching staff keep up-to-date with developments in the industry.
Walsall College’s Curriculum Manager for Beauty, Joanne Small said: “To ensure we are teaching students the skills that employers are looking for, it’s vital that we keep up-to-date with new trends and techniques used in the industry.
“We really enjoyed the workshops and refreshing our skills. We are now looking forward to passing these skills on to students from September.”
