Walsall Housing Group (WHG) is a major employer within Walsall and was created as a result of the Midland’s largest and most successful transfer of Social Housing. It is a not-for-profit group of companies delivering housing and community services across the borough.
Supported Learning student, Kezia Morris undertook a work experience placement with the Lettings Office at Walsall Housing Group.
Kezia worked alongside the Lettings Team by supporting them in collating housing packs for new tenants. During her time there she also undertook a range of general administration duties.
Kezia is studying on a ‘Personal Progression through Employment’ course and the work experience pilot programme has helped her to gain valuable evidence to support part of her qualification, which she will complete this year. It also enabled her to develop her administration and team working skills, and experience first-hand the day-to-day tasks which are undertaken in a busy working environment.
Sarah Johnson, Lettings Manager at Walsall Housing Group commented: “Kezia was brilliant. She was really focused and didn’t leave at the end of the day until she had made sure all of her tasks were completed. She’s worked really hard and we were very pleased with her work.”
Kezia said: “I thought the place was really nice and the people that I was working with were some of the nicest people I have met in my entire life. They were supportive, polite, respectful, kind and caring. I really enjoyed working at WHG.
“I liked the fact that they treated me so kindly and when I left they even got me a present and a card and I was so grateful and thankful that I had met them. I think this has taught me to focus and think more about my future after I leave college.”
