Can you offer a young person a job placement that will give them the experience they need? It will be fully funded by the government. If you think you can help young people who are currently at risk of long-term unemployment get the experience they need, sign up today!

What is the Kickstart Scheme and how does it work?

The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to create new job placements for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment. Employers of all sizes can apply for funding which covers:

Employers can spread the start date of the job placements up until the end of December 2021. Further information can be found here in the Guide for Employers.

In addition, there will be up to £1,500 in extra funding to support young people to build their experience and help them move into sustained employment after they have completed their Kickstart Scheme funded job.

Local authorities, charities and Chambers of Commerce have signed up to act as Gateways to help employers access the grant.

How does it benefit your business?

Not only will you be helping a young person 'kickstarting' their career into motion, you could possibly be looking at a future employee for your business, trained up to your business needs and ready to be recruited once the placement is over. This could equate to substantial recruitment savings for your company. Not only will they benefit from your guidance, they will also gain a funded qualification delivered by Walsall College.

Walsall College are able to offer qualifications in various sectors including: Healthcare, Business, Legal, Finance, Warehousing, Retail or Construction.

This Kickstart initiative is organised by DMP working alongside Walsall Council, Black Country Chamber of Commerce and Walsall College.

Help us train the next generation and keep our industries thriving.
