Skills for Working Life Entry Level 2

The aim of the course is to support students to improve a wide range of skills to support them to progress to higher level courses and/or employment.  The focus of the course is to develop skills such as Personal and Social development and Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT whilst also giving students the opportunity to access Vocational Taster sessions in subjects such as Motor Vehicle, Art and Design, Performing Arts, Media, Gardening, Conservation, Football, Languages, Care, Hairdressing and Catering.

No formal qualifications needed.  Applicants will need to attend an interview with a Supported Learning tutor.  Applicants may also need to attend an Assessment to determine their support needs, if necessary.

These could include progression to other courses within Supported Learning or a mainstream course across college.  This would be assessed on an individual basis.

Maths & English Requirement

English and Maths is a mandatory part of the 16-19 study programme.
If you have GCSEs in English and Maths at:

  • A* - C or 4-9 - You will continue to study English and Maths but do not have to take another exam.
  • D or 3 - You will need to resit your GCSE English and Maths at college.
  • E, F or G / 1 or 2 - You will study for Functional Skills until you get to Level 1. Then you will take GCSE English and Maths.
