Site Carpentry Level 3

A full time Level 3 programme that will further develop your skills and knowledge in carpentry. You will be expected to have successfully completed lower level qualifications. Progression is typically into employment or further studying in an apprenticeship or BTEC framework.

The Level 3 Diploma in Site Carpentry is designed to further develop the skills and knowledge of people, enabling them to work to an advanced level in the industry in their chosen craft. It has been specifically developed for delivery in a training environment using simulated conditions. Tests are based on the student showing what they can do as an individual through the completion of all the requirements of the qualification. During your time on the course, you will complete training designed to develop your individual skills with a wide range of tasks. Once you are judged to be ready, you will then be practically assessed on these skills.

You will also undertake classroom sessions to improve your knowledge and understanding of the subject and will also be assessed on this.

Successful completion of Level 2 qualification in a related subject and Interview. All applicants will undertake an initial assessment. Candidates must show that they have the potential and opportunity to successfully gain the qualification.

Progression onto an Apprenticeship, into employment or successful students can further their studies by taking the BTEC Level 4 Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment (Pearson) at Walsall College.

Maths & English Requirement

English and Maths is a mandatory part of the 16-19 study programme.
If you have GCSEs in English and Maths at:

  • A* - C or 4-9 - You will continue to study English and Maths but do not have to take another exam.
  • D or 3 - You will need to resit your GCSE English and Maths at college.
  • E, F or G / 1 or 2 - You will study for Functional Skills until you get to Level 1. Then you will take GCSE English and Maths.
