Site Carpentry Level 2

This is the second step for aspiring carpenters and joiners who have successfully completed their entry level qualification. The course is both theoretical and practical and successful completion can lead on to Level 3 or a construction apprenticeship.

The Level 2 Diploma in Site Carpentry is designed to develop the skills and knowledge of people, enabling them to work in the industry in their chosen craft. It has been specifically developed for delivery in a training environment using simulated conditions, and the test(s) are based on the student showing what they can do as an individual through the completion of all the requirements of the qualification.

Successful completion of Level 1 qualification in a related subject and Interview. All applicants will undertake an initial assessment. Candidates must show that they have the potential and opportunity to successfully gain the qualification.

Progression to Level 3 Diploma or a Construction Apprenticeship will be based upon a satisfactory reference from your L2 Personal Tutor to include professional attitude, attendance, punctuality and performance.

Maths & English Requirement

English and Maths is a mandatory part of the 16-19 study programme.
If you have GCSEs in English and Maths at:

  • A* - C or 4-9 - You will continue to study English and Maths but do not have to take another exam.
  • D or 3 - You will need to resit your GCSE English and Maths at college.
  • E, F or G / 1 or 2 - You will study for Functional Skills until you get to Level 1. Then you will take GCSE English and Maths.
