Level 3 Engineering (Mechanical)

Have you completed a Level 2 Engineering Diploma? Looking for your next step to progress onto university?

This course is a great stepping stone to higher level study in engineering.

The programme provides a foundation for a range of technical and professional occupations within the industry.   

The course is split into a number of units, including a wide range of optional units, allowing learners to begin to specialise and focus their studies towards a desired outcome.

Level 2 related qualification and higher level Maths and English, preferably at GCSE grade C/GCSE grade 4 or above.

On completion of the course, you have the option of continuing your studies at Higher National Certificate level at Walsall College, with a view to progressing to a university degree programme.

Maths & English Requirement

English and Maths is a mandatory part of the 16-19 study programme.
If you have GCSEs in English and Maths at:

  • A* - C or 4-9 - You will continue to study English and Maths but do not have to take another exam.
  • D or 3 - You will need to resit your GCSE English and Maths at college.
  • E, F or G / 1 or 2 - You will study for Functional Skills until you get to Level 1. Then you will take GCSE English and Maths.
