Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults)

Level 3 is ideal for you if you're a care worker, and you have some responsibility in your workplace. You are able to work without supervision. You want to develop or demonstrate your skills, perhaps to become a senior care worker,team leader or take on additional responsibilities.

This qualification is to guide and assess the development of knowledge and skills relating to the health and social care workforce. This qualification confirms competence in these areas for roles such as:

• Care assistants/support workers/key workers in residential settings

• Healthcare assistants/support workers in community and primary care environments

• Healthcare assistants/support workers in acute health environments

• Care assistants/support workers/key workers in domiciliary services

• Care assistants/support workers/key workers in day services

• Support workers in supported living projects

• Personal assistants employed directly by the individual they support or their families

• Emerging new types of workers and multidisciplinary health roles crossing traditional service barriers and delivery models.

This wide-ranging qualification covers the skills and knowledge needed to care for others in a broad range of health or social care settings.

A Diploma in Health and Social Care is flexible to suit all fields of health and social care. You can choose a pathway that suits your role - for example, working with people with a learning disability, people with dementia or children and young people.sed care assistants/ support workers/key workers, including those working in specialist areas eg dementia, learning disabilities.

You will be expected to meet with your assessor at least once a month and your employer will need to provide you with the duties in order for you to complete the course.
This competence-based qualification is designed to be assessed in the candidate’s workplace as they undertake their normal work role.
The evidence must at all times reflect the policies and procedures of the workplace as informed by current legislation, the relevant service standards and codes of practice for the sector.
The majority of assessment for this competence-based qualification will take place in the workplace under real work conditions, using observations by a qualified assessor and/or testimony from an expert witness, work products etc.
All the identified assessment criteria must be evidenced and a holistic approach to assessment is encouraged.

Once a learner has achieved the level 3 Diploma they have the opportunity if they wish to undertake a full aprrenticeship level 3 dependant upon there desire to develop and progress , also dependant upon the business needs of the company.
It is anticipated that learners could progress to Level 5 qualifications for management or senior practitioner roles in Health & Social Care, or to specialist qualifications reflecting the context in which they work.
However in order to progress on to a level 5 award you would need to be within a role that would enable you to cover the criteria on units required or to be given addtional responsibiltiies in order that you could progress and develop in your place of work and that would enable you to complete all units successfully.
