Level 2 Plumbing Studies

Want to work as a plumber? Want to learn the basics to kick-off your career?

If you’re a practical, hands-on person, then this is the career for you. This course is a great start to your career. It will give you the basics and experience you will need to move onto further study.

Forming the first part of the qualification, finishing this course will lead to you going onto the performance elements in a work placement, or as part of an apprenticeship.

This Level 2 course is made up of ten units covering a wide range of topics, including cold water systems, common plumbing processes, drainage systems and electrical principals and processes.

The Diploma will be assessed through practical assignments and online multiple choice tests. It’s an excellent combination of practical and theory based work, giving students the footing to succeed in the Plumbing industry.

Initial assessment and an interview will be part of the recruitment process.  Applications from students that have completed a Level 1 qualification will be considered provided they can demonstrate they are working at the necessary level. An aptitude test for physical tasks is also essential for this course.

Progression onto the level 3 City and Guilds 6035 or into related plumbing areas. This qualification also forms part of the Plumbing apprenticeship framework and can be used towards the completion of a full Plumbing apprenticeship.

Maths & English Requirement

English and Maths is a mandatory part of the 16-19 study programme.
If you have GCSEs in English and Maths at:

  • A* - C or 4-9 - You will continue to study English and Maths but do not have to take another exam.
  • D or 3 - You will need to resit your GCSE English and Maths at college.
  • E, F or G / 1 or 2 - You will study for Functional Skills until you get to Level 1. Then you will take GCSE English and Maths.
