Level 2 Engineering

This qualification is for anyone looking to enter the engineering industry and learn practical, hands-on skills alongside design and theory related to the industry. You will study a broad spectrum of skills such as fabrication, welding, milling, fitting and turning.

It is expected that a student will have completed a Level 1 qualification previously in Engineering or a related subject. All applications will be subject to an interview and a diagnostic assessment and should have 4 GCSE grades including Maths and English.

Students who complete this course could move onto the C&G 2850 Level 3, the BTEC Level 3 or into an apprenticeship.

Maths & English Requirement

English and Maths is a mandatory part of the 16-19 study programme.
If you have GCSEs in English and Maths at:

  • A* - C or 4-9 - You will continue to study English and Maths but do not have to take another exam.
  • D or 3 - You will need to resit your GCSE English and Maths at college.
  • E, F or G / 1 or 2 - You will study for Functional Skills until you get to Level 1. Then you will take GCSE English and Maths.
