Level 2 Electrical Installation

A course for those interested in a career as an electrician. This qualification forms the first part of the technical requirements required to become fully qualified as a JIB registered electrician. It is aimed is at new entrants to the electrical industry and provides the basic skills and experience needed to progress.

Completion of a Level 1 Electrical qualification and an interview will form part of the application process.  It is expected that students will have GCSE Maths and English grade C/GCSE grade 4 or above and will be initially assessed as part of the interview process.  Applications from mature students will be considered through interview.

Progression onto the Level 3 or into related electrotechnical areas including electrical engineering. This qualification can form part of the electrotechnical apprenticeship framework and can be used towards the completion of a full electrical apprenticeship.

Maths & English Requirement

English and Maths is a mandatory part of the 16-19 study programme.
If you have GCSEs in English and Maths at:

  • A* - C or 4-9 - You will continue to study English and Maths but do not have to take another exam.
  • D or 3 - You will need to resit your GCSE English and Maths at college.
  • E, F or G / 1 or 2 - You will study for Functional Skills until you get to Level 1. Then you will take GCSE English and Maths.
