During the course you will undertake a variety of practical tasks including:

  • Jointing and pressure testing of completed systems.

During the course you will undertake a broad range of basic activities designed to prepare you for entry into the electrical industry with the primary emphasis on plumbing. You will be expected to plan, prepare for and carry out hand fitting activities. You will produce a work plan containing job instructions, materials, tools, equipment and components that may be required for the activities.

There are no formal entry qualifications, however a good standard of maths and English is expected as the course contains both theory and practical elements for successful completion. All applicants will undertake an initial assessment to establish the appropriate level of study. There are opportunities through the Pathways to Building Services programme should a student not meet the necessary requirements for direct entry onto a plumbing course.
Applicants may also complete a dexterity test in the form of taster days. This will give you an insight into the course and establish suitability and level of entry.

On successful completion of the course, the student may be able to progress onto either a level 2 qualification in Plumbing or Plumbing apprenticeship subject to interview and reference.
