McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Access to Retail Employability Programme.

 

The McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Access to Retail Employability Programme will help equip you with the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to be successful in a customer-experience role.

 

Upon successful completion of this programme, you will achieve an accredited retail qualification (Award in Introduction to Retail Employment), and complete the Walsall College Graduate scheme, endorsed by a number of local employers.

 

 

The Access to Retail Employability Programme will help you to:

 

  • Gain an insight and understanding of McArthurGlen’s Designer Outlet opening in 2020, and their mission to create the finest retail experiences.

 

  • Identify and evaluate what is great about you. Be realistic about recognising the skills and qualities you want to develop and those that will contribute to your success,

 

  • Gain an understanding of the retail business and role you can play in enhancing the customer experience so they leave happy, tell their family and friends and return time and time again.

 

  • Appreciate the value of teamwork and gain an understanding of how collaboration can lead to greater innovation and success.
  • Appreciate how customer service impacts brand image and how surprising and delighting the customer is central to success.

 

  • Understand the impact you have in representing the brand and creating a lasting impression on the customer.

 

  • Understand why employers put an emphasis on high expectations, what these look like and how they align with your own expectations and your career development opportunities.

 

 

This pre-employment programme will also include; employability support, a full programme induction, links with key employers (face to face, documented or via digital link), CV writing, application support, interview techniques and practice.

 

Following an initial assessment of your maths, English and ICT skills, we will support you to develop an individual skills plan, shaped on your individual needs and aspirations.

 

 

Programme delivery

Delivery will take place in varying sites within the Cannock community including the Walsall College Cannock Skills Academy and Community venues.

 

This is a two-week 60 hour pre-employment programme. If time is a challenge for you, there is the flexibility to attend some courses over a longer duration with a shorter working day 09:30 – 14:30.
