The Level 3 Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools is for those who are already working or volunteering in a learning support role, such as a Teaching Assistant or a Learning Support Assistant.

You should have a GCSE Grade C in both English and Maths. A sound knowledge of English and Maths is required to ensure your ability to support children in their understanding of their Curriculum. You must undertake the BKSB initial assessment and complete a written task. You must also complete an enhanced DBS certificate. A clear DBS certificate is required prior to starting placement or employment. It is recommended that to complete the qualification you will be employed or have volunteering experience in a primary, secondary , Special Needs or FE setting. You role must entail supporting learners in their education and development, supporting assessment of learning and providing feedback to the teacher. You will be supported to develop and reflect upon your skills to support your progression and career. It is the responsibility of the learner to secure a placement.
Successful completion will support your progression onto further learning or sustainable employment.
