Diploma in Education and Training (University of Warwick)

Are you an FE or secondary school teacher? Have a placement of 100 hours over two years? Looking to teach in post-compulsory education?

The course provides a benchmark of a professional accreditation for people intending to carry out teaching in post-compulsory education (PCE).

Course content includes principles and theories of teaching and learning, assessing learning in education and training, planning for inclusive delivery, professional practice, use of technology in teaching, learning and assessment and a consideration of the impact of national policy on curriculum design and practice.

The Diploma in Education & Training is a two year course that is undertaken by FE and upper secondary teachers who are already working in the sector. The course is run by Walsall College under franchise from the University of Warwick.

The course is a Higher Education course that follows full university guidelines and procedures, and is designed to meet all the Education and Training Foundation's Professional Standards. It has, at its heart, a model of Critical Reflective Practice that facilitates an ongoing professional dialogue between student and tutor. By undertaking this course, you will be joining a Community of Practice underpinned by a strong culture of teaching and learning and critical enquiry.

Students will be assessed through a combination of formative and summative observations, written assignments, peer presentations and posters.

The course costs are £3000 per annum. Candidates can apply for a Higher Education Student Loan via the Student Finance England web site, which will cover your tuition fees.  As the course is Initial Teacher Training, it is exempt from the rules pertaining to equivalent or lower level qualifications, so if you have a degree or higher, you may need to point this out to them.
