Digital Marketer Apprenticeship Standard

This course is ideal for those with an interest in digital communications, marketing and social media. As a beginner, apprentices will learn to define, design, build and implement digital campaigns across a variety of online and social media platforms to drive customer engagement, retention and loyalty.

Apprentices will typically be working as part of a team, in which they will have responsibility for some of the straightforward elements of the overall marketing plan or campaign. They will be working to marketing briefs and instructions and normally report to a digital marketing manager, a marketing manager or an IT Manager.

Our apprentices are given access to the latest technology and guidance at our dedicated learning centres- the risual Microsoft Academy and Cisco Academy, so they have the tools to excel in the workplace.

Apprentices on this course will develop the following skills, knowledge and behaviours:

  • A confident understanding of the organisation, its values, policies and procedures
  • Demonstrating professionalism, self-management, quality assurance and industry approved standards of behaviour
  • A basic understanding of coding principals and digital marketing strategies
  • Build and implement digital campaigns using the appropriate programmes and technologies for a variety of platforms, including social media
  • A sound understanding of reviewing, reporting and analysing data in order to provide recommendations and insights.

Individual employers will set the selection criteria, but this might include GCSEs, A levels, a level 2 apprenticeship or other relevant qualifications, relevant experience and/or an aptitude test with a focus on functional maths. Employers are likely to be looking for a proven passion for digital and social media.

Apprentices will progress to become either a Digital Marketing Assistant, Digital Marketing Executive, Digital Marketing Co-ordinator, Campaign Executive, Social Media Executive, Content Co-ordinator, Email Marketing Assistant, SEO Executive, Analytics Executive, Digital Marketing Technologist.
