C&G 2850 Level 3 in Engineering

Are you an engineer looking to progress in your career? Want to develop the skills to start an advanced apprenticeship?

This course is for experienced learners who already have practical experience of specialist engineering technologies and principles.

If you’re looking to start an Advanced Engineering Apprenticeship, this qualification will give you the skills to maximise your performance.

During the course, you will complete a number of units, including:

301     Engineering Health and Safety

302     Engineering Principles

307     Principles of Mechanicl Engineering

323     Machining materials by turning

324     Machining materials by milling

327     Detailed Fitting of Materials

You will need to pass an online exam to complete Units 301 and 302. For the other units, you will need to complete a portfolio of assignments and pass a number of practical assessments.

It is expected that learners should have the Level 2 Diploma in Engineering (2850) or equivalent in order to be able to satisfactorily complete the course of study.
There is also an expectation of having Passed both GCSE’s at grade 4 -5.
Initial Assessment results should show one Level 2 in Maths and English.

Maths & English Requirement

English and Maths is a mandatory part of the 16-19 study programme.
If you have GCSEs in English and Maths at:

  • A* - C or 4-9 - You will continue to study English and Maths but do not have to take another exam.
  • D or 3 - You will need to resit your GCSE English and Maths at college.
  • E, F or G / 1 or 2 - You will study for Functional Skills until you get to Level 1. Then you will take GCSE English and Maths.
