Certificate in Education and Training

This course, which was formerly known at the Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS), is a first stage teaching and training qualification and comes with a teaching/training practice requirement of 30 hours.  It is intended for those teaching/training or wishing to do so in any post compulsory learning environment. It will provide candidates with an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer in relaiton to legislation, equality, diversity, inclusivity and meeting the needs of learners.

  • Candidates must be able to evidence level 2 skills in English and maths. They must also hold a Level 3 qualification in the subject that they intend to teach/train.
  • Candidates must be able to evidence access to 30 hours of teaching/training practice.
  • Candidates need to have previously achieved the Award in Educaiton and Training or the equivalent.

Candidates may progress to the Certificate in Education or the Professional Graduate Certificate in Education.
