BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (Acting)

On this course you will learn about all aspects of the performing arts, becoming part of the college's own theatre company. In addition to developing your practical skills through a range of workshops and performances, you will attend lectures, undertake research and spend time reflecting on your activities.

This course is ideal for anyone who is passionate about a career in the performing arts. It is suitable for learners who are progressing from Level 2 Performing Arts, and provides the opportunity for further study at university or drama school.

The course will give learners the opportunity to study and develop the skills and disciplines they need in order to perform on stage or screen. Students will explore a range of styles and techniques including:

  • Classical Theatre
  • Contemporary Theatre
  • Musical theatre

4 GCSEs at grades C/GCSE grade 4 or above. Or a Level 2 related qualification. All applicants will need to attend an interview and audition.

Higher National Certificate or Diploma in Performing Arts (Acting/Dance), employment, progression to a university or drama school.

Maths & English Requirement

English and Maths is a mandatory part of the 16-19 study programme.
If you have GCSEs in English and Maths at:

  • A* - C or 4-9 - You will continue to study English and Maths but do not have to take another exam.
  • D or 3 - You will need to resit your GCSE English and Maths at college.
  • E, F or G / 1 or 2 - You will study for Functional Skills until you get to Level 1. Then you will take GCSE English and Maths.
