BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Media (TV & Film)

“Movies touch our hearts and awaken our vision, and change the way we see things. They take us to other places, they open doors and minds. Movies are the memories of our life time; we need to keep them alive?” Martin Scorsese

An advanced course for creative individuals with an interest in film and TV production and theory behind it.

The course is taught over 2 years, during the first year (BTEC 90-credit Diploma in Creative Media Production (QCF)), you will develop an understanding in Media products and transferable skills such as research and communication.

You will develop a concept for a TV show and learn how to pitch the idea effectively.

You will examine all areas of film and TV production such as pre-production (planning), production (using cameras) and post-production (editing) to create a variety of moving image productions, working to an industry-level standard.

This course enables students to work practically in small groups and to develop their skills individually. There is also an opportunity to work on a range of exciting employer-led projects and live briefs within the course.

The course is assessed through coursework, and there may be an opportunity to take part in trips such as the Harry Potter Studios.

Homework or private study is required and the course offers opportunities to gain further qualifications in GCSE English and Maths if needed.

The second year (BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production (TV & Film)), will continue to develop your understanding in analysing the media industry and products.

You will develop concepts for documentaries, social action videos and marketing/ advertisements.

All the skills you will acquire throughout the course will lead up to your Final Major Project, which will be screened in a local cinema.
