BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Graphic Design

The ideal course for budding designers looking to take their work to the next level. The course covers a variety of areas of design ranging from photography and typography to advertising and animation. You will undertake a significant personal design project, working towards achieving a professional quality outcome.

Graphic designers are visual communicators; creating and combining words, symbols, and images to dynamically and professionally express ideas and messages. This course aims to identify and develop new and exciting talent for this ever growing communications specialism. It is designed to explore a wide range of specialisms within Graphic Design, encompassing traditional and digital design and production skills and practices. You will experience the complete process by which graphics products are made: from briefing through to final presentation and production.

4 GCSEs at grades C/GCSE grade 4 or above including English Language and/or Maths. Or a Level 2 related qualification. All applicants will need to attend an interview.

Maths & English Requirement

English and Maths is a mandatory part of the 16-19 study programme.
If you have GCSEs in English and Maths at:

  • A* - C or 4-9 - You will continue to study English and Maths but do not have to take another exam.
  • D or 3 - You will need to resit your GCSE English and Maths at college.
  • E, F or G / 1 or 2 - You will study for Functional Skills until you get to Level 1. Then you will take GCSE English and Maths.
