BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport Development/Performance/Science

Comprising of lectures, practical sessions and tutorials, this course is ideal for those looking to improve both their practical and theoretical knowledge of developmental aspects within sports and fitness.

This course will appeal to those who wish to develop their understanding of:

  • the developmental aspects of sport including widening participation and accessibility
  • the coaching aspects of sport including the roles and responsibilities of coaches and how to plan, deliver and evaluate coaching sessions
  • the fitness industry including fitness testing and planning and delivering a fitness programme for selected clients.

Please be advised the Sports and Exercise Sciences route will only be offered if there are sufficient numbers for a group.

5 GCSEs at grade C/GCSE grade 4 or above including English Language and/or Maths (some courses may require both, please check your individual course). Or a Level 2 related qualification.
 

There are opportunities to progress onto higher education to study towards a degree or choose to continue their studies at Walsall College on a HNC/D or degree in sports, dependent upon grade achieved.

Maths & English Requirement

English and Maths is a mandatory part of the 16-19 study programme.
If you have GCSEs in English and Maths at:

  • A* - C or 4-9 - You will continue to study English and Maths but do not have to take another exam.
  • D or 3 - You will need to resit your GCSE English and Maths at college.
  • E, F or G / 1 or 2 - You will study for Functional Skills until you get to Level 1. Then you will take GCSE English and Maths.
