BTEC Level 3 Diploma Business & Finance

This course is ideal for those interested in pursuing a career in finance or accounting, and will provide an introduction to the financial aspects of business. It combines the OCR Diploma in Business (Accounting) with the Pearson BTEC in Financial Services (2018). The total course is equivalent to 3 A-levels and will develop employment skills relevant to the financial sector.

The OCR Diploma is assessed via completion of assignments, while the Pearson BTEC is assessed via a combination of exams and assignments. The Diploma covers 12 units, including The Business Environment, Business Accounting, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting and Business and the Economic Environment. The Pearson BTEC includes financial topics.

5 GCSEs at grades C/GCSE grade 4 or above including English Language and/or Maths (some courses may require both, please check with course tutor at interview). Or a Level 2 related qualification in a related subject area plus Maths and/or English at Level 2.

Progression to HNC/HND Business and Accounting, AAT course, University degree course, advanced apprenticeships, employment.

Maths & English Requirement

English and Maths is a mandatory part of the 16-19 study programme.
If you have GCSEs in English and Maths at:

  • A* - C or 4-9 - You will continue to study English and Maths but do not have to take another exam.
  • D or 3 - You will need to resit your GCSE English and Maths at college.
  • E, F or G / 1 or 2 - You will study for Functional Skills until you get to Level 1. Then you will take GCSE English and Maths.
