BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Hospitality

This Level 1 course is ideal for students who wish to gain the initial skills and knowledge required to work towards a career in the Hospitality industry, from customer service skills to preparing food.

The qualification has a great blend of written and practical classes & assessments. You will take part in masterclasses staffed by industry professionals, and will complete work experience with our commercial bistro restaurant The Littleton, where you will get expert support to produce outstanding food and deliver excellent customer service.

You will complete units on developing your organisational skills and hosting real events, which are designed to give you a real taste of the Hospitality Industry. The course is delivered in our outstanding facilities, with industry expert tutors who make learning fun, exciting and enjoyable.

You can feel proud in achieving a BTEC because whatever your plans may be, your BTEC Introductory Certificate or Diploma will help you progress to the next stage of your learning. That could be progressing onto an extended hospitality course  to discover what it takes to manage a hospitality team, or venturing into the world of professional cookery, where you will learn to develop and refine your cookery skills by working with ingredients and dishes from a range of different cultures.

Maths & English Requirement

English and Maths is a mandatory part of the 16-19 study programme.
If you have GCSEs in English and Maths at:

  • A* - C or 4-9 - You will continue to study English and Maths but do not have to take another exam.
  • D or 3 - You will need to resit your GCSE English and Maths at college.
  • E, F or G / 1 or 2 - You will study for Functional Skills until you get to Level 1. Then you will take GCSE English and Maths.
