Bricklaying Level 2

The Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying is designed to develop the practical skills and knowledge of students’ enabling them to work in the Construction Industry in their chosen craft. It has been specifically developed for delivery in a training environment using simulated conditions, and the tests’ based on the student showing what they can do as an individual through the completion of all the requirements of the qualification, once you are judged to be ready, you will be practically assessed on the skills you have gained to determine your competence in achieving industrial standards.

The qualification comprises of: General core units, occupation specific units, synoptic practical assignment, multiple choice unit end tests, GOLA online test.

Successful completion of Level 1 in related subject and interview. All applicants will undertake an initial assessment. Candidates must show that they have the potential and opportunity to successfully gain the qualification.

Progression to Level 3 Diploma or a Construction Apprenticeship will be based upon a satisfactory reference from your Level 2 Personal Tutor to include professional attitude, attendance, punctuality and performance.

Maths & English Requirement

English and Maths is a mandatory part of the 16-19 study programme.
If you have GCSEs in English and Maths at:

  • A* - C or 4-9 - You will continue to study English and Maths but do not have to take another exam.
  • D or 3 - You will need to resit your GCSE English and Maths at college.
  • E, F or G / 1 or 2 - You will study for Functional Skills until you get to Level 1. Then you will take GCSE English and Maths.
