Award in Education and Training

This introductory, knowledge-based teaching qualification, which was formerly known as Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS), has no minimum teaching practice requirement, so it is suitable for individuals who are not in a teaching role, or who have just started and require a short qualification. It allows progression onto the certificate in education and training, once a minimum of thirty hours teaching practice have been sourced.

Learners are assessed by written assignments, self reflection and microteaching sessions to peers. There are numerous career opportunities following the completion of this qualification in lifelong learning and trainer establishments. You will be expected to do further reading on teacher training to support assignments.

  • Level 2/3 qualification in the subject you want to teach or are currently teaching
  • Completion of initial assessment(s) and a written comprehension assessment.
