Advanced and Creative Hair Professional (Hairdressing)

This programme is designed to provide apprentices with the advanced skills needed to be a professional hairdresser. Apprentices will be able to confidently offer a wide range of treatments to clients and with a clear understanding of how their performance is directly related to the success of the business.

Apprentices will learn how to manage themselves and their workload with no supervision, whilst providing an excellent, high-quality service to clients with outstanding customer service.

Employer overview

Apprentices on this course will develop the following skills, knowledge and behaviours:

  • A confident understanding of the organisation, its values, policies and procedures
  • Demonstrating professionalism, self-management, quality assurance and industry approved standards of behaviour
  • Maintaining effective and hygienic ways of working, including the management of tools, products and equipment
  • Creativity assessing the client based on their requirements, whilst taking into consideration their lifestyle, suitability and any potential restrictions or hazards.

The selection process will include a basic Initial Assessment and an in depth interview during which an apprentice’s suitability, commitment and interest for the programme will be determined. Apprentices will also be required to carry out a skills test. To be accepted onto the programme apprentices must have GCSE grades E or above in Maths and English. Grade C or above are desirable. If these grades have been attained, apprentices may be exempt from the functional skills components of the framework. However if apprentices do not have the required grades, additional support will be provided to be brought up to the required level, dependant on initial assessment results.
The suitability of an employer will also be determined before apprentices are accepted onto the programme.
Employers will need to demonstrate that they have the necessary Health and Safety arrangements in place to satisfy legislative requirements, and that they are able to provide apprentices with the full range of work to successfully complete the Apprenticeship framework. If apprentices do not have an offer of employment we may be able to assist, however this cannot be guaranteed as demand for Apprenticeship places are high.
