Access to HE Diplomas are well established national qualifications, which allow students without traditional Level 3 qualifications to apply for Higher Education courses either at university or at Walsall College.
Our new Access to Higher Education Diploma: Computing course runs over one year and is ideal for students wishing to progress to Higher Education, to study on a range of Computing and IT programmes. Candidates with prior experience working in computing and related professions will also benefit from this course if they have a desire to progress to Higher Education. Candidates will study a range of modules in Computing, ICT, study techniques and preparation for higher education.

You will also need to be able to demonstrate Level 2 competency in Literacy and a minimum of Level 1-2 in Numeracy through a rigorous interview, online Initial Assessment and a written comprehension exercise. You will need to possess the necessary motivation and determination to succeed on an intensive programme and must be able to show evidence of relevant work experience to support career progression.
You can progress onto higher education courses within Computing and IT related subject areas. You can also progress onto a range of degrees within the wider Computing and Information Technology related subject areas.
You may also choose to remain at Walsall College to complete our Higher Education programme of studies in Computing which comprises a HNC and HND in Computing and Systems Development together with a BSc (Hons) in Computing (TOP-UP) to be validated by Birmingham City University.
Successful completion of the unit assessments is required for progression.
