(16-18 only) Gateway to AAT Apprenticeship (Level 3)

Looking to launch a career in Accounting through an apprenticeship?

Our Gateway to Apprenticeships programme is for you. This Level 3 course is made up of core examined sessions that will help you develop your skills in Bookkeeping and Computer Software.

Most learning will take place at your place of work, supported by weekly sessions based at the College’s Wisemore Campus. This blended learning approach will help you to develop the skills and knowledge to achieve personal, departmental and operational targets.

Learning will include group tutorials, one-to-one review and 3 hours of weekly independent study, monitored using Mindful’s analytics facility. You will also develop your employability skills, including CV writing and interview preparation, plus your technical skills through specialised computer software, such as SAGE and MOS.

Our new Gateway to Apprenticeships programme is open to students with grade A*-C/4 – 9 GCSE Maths and English who are interested in Accounting but do not wish to progress to university. 

Students could  progress to a level 4 Higher Apprenticeship in AAT. 
In summary, students could be qualified to level 4 within 3 – 4 years from the point of starting the level 3 Apprenticeship

Maths & English Requirement

English and Maths is a mandatory part of the 16-19 study programme.
If you have GCSEs in English and Maths at:

  • A* - C or 4-9 - You will continue to study English and Maths but do not have to take another exam.
  • D or 3 - You will need to resit your GCSE English and Maths at college.
  • E, F or G / 1 or 2 - You will study for Functional Skills until you get to Level 1. Then you will take GCSE English and Maths.
