Alastair retired in 2007 from a successful and varied career as a Chartered Civil Engineer, specialising in highway design, construction and maintenance, in a local government environment, latterly with Staffordshire County Council.
He has been involved in a number of work-related activities which are relevant to the activities of the College, including collaborative partnership working, procurement and management of contract services, business planning, budgetary management, performance management, risk management and the implementation of equality and diversity policies.
Alastair is a registered STEM Ambassador and participates in hosting meetings with Staffordshire schools, in conjunction with his voluntary work with the Claymills Victorian Pumping Engines Trust in Burton upon Trent.
Alastair was appointed to the Corporation in February 2012, having previously been an Associate Governor. He is currently Chair of the Audit Committee, a member of the Learning and Quality Committee, and the Search and Governance Standards Committee.
