Spotlight on Talent: Viktorija Gaigalaite
Viktorija Gaigalaite
Level 3 Public Services
“Studying Public Services has taught me such a wide variety of skills that I can apply in a range of careers. But it has also changed me as a person.”
After visiting a number of colleges, Viktorija felt that this would be the best place for her to develop her skills and progress with her career plans. She’s now studying for a degree in Law at Birmingham City University and is well on her way to becoming a barrister.
“Studying Public Services has taught me such a wide variety of skills I that I can apply in a range of careers. But it has also changed me as a person; when I first came here, I was a very quiet and shy person, who would just come to college and do the work; but my tutor pushed me to aim high and do more.
“It was difficult at times but I enjoyed every single bit, and with every challenge I overcame, I became even more determined to succeed at the highest level.
“The best part for me was completing a 76 mile trek along Hadrian’s Wall, it really challenged me, and if I could do it again, I would be the first one in the queue.
“Outside the course there are a lot of opportunities to get involved in other activities. I became an active member of the Student Union and part of a team that represents the Student Voice at the college. Students are really respected here, our views are taken seriously and changes are made based on our suggestions.
“Being part of the union has increased my passion for working in the law industry and it’s also prepared me for any challenges I will face at university.”
