Spotlight on Talent: Latifah Abdul Ndaimana
Latifah Abdul Ndaimana
L3 Health & Social Care
Coming to the UK from another country was made easy for Latifah when she enrolled at Walsall College. A safe and welcoming environment enabled her to excel in her studies, and before even completing her course, she has gained a job as a care assistant in a nursing home.
“From my first day here I found the tutors very inspiring and I felt motivated to aim high. They talk to you on an individual basis about the career path you want to follow and give you all the guidance you need to help you achieve your goals.
“During my first year, I completed a number of work experience placements in a range of different health and social care environments. I really enjoyed this part of the course as it enabled me to broaden my experience and use the skills I had learnt during lessons.
“At the end of one placement I was offered a job which I could fit around my classes and use to gain even more experience of the industry.
“In only one year here I’ve built up so much confidence and knowledge, especially in working with people suffering with mental disabilities. In my role I enjoy interacting with residents and supporting their needs, which has increased my ambition to become a mental health nurse. After completing this course I plan to go to university to further develop the skills and knowledge I need to achieve my dream career.”
