Spotlight on Talent: Estelle Morris
Estelle Morris
Foundation Diploma in Art & Design
“Being amongst other creative people and great tutors was such a different experience to school. It was an environment where I felt like I could be myself and was encouraged to try new things with my work.”
Our Foundation Art and Design course was the perfect stepping stone for Estelle to establish a variety of skills before moving on to university, and then carving a career as a freelance illustrator.
“After previously studying Level 3 Fashion here, I wanted to keep my options open before going on to university and the foundation course offered me variety. It gave me the opportunity to explore a range of different mediums and develop my skills an artist.
“I was unsure which direction I wanted to go in but this course was an ideal mix of creative work and it gave me the breathing space I needed, while I figured out which area of art I wanted to specialise in.
“Being amongst other creative people and great tutors was such a different experience to school. It was an environment where I felt like I could be myself and was encouraged to try new things with my work.
“I was able to experiment freely, try different processes and forge the start of my illustrative style. It also prepared me to study this discipline further at the Cambridge School of Art.
“My entire journey as a student gave me the confidence to be my own boss as I’m now a freelance illustrator, with clients both in UK and around the world, as well as running my online shop selling illustration prints and products. It’s a career I love and being freelance gives me a lot of freedom. I’m still learning and evolving all the time as an illustrator and that’s part of the fun.”
