Advanced Apprenticeship in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Level 3)
“After researching them, I came to the conclusion that an Apprenticeship was probably the best way for me to learn and would also still give me the opportunity to work on vehicles.”
Throughout the course there was a good balance of practical and theoretical learning which really helped my understanding. Since leaving the College I’ve now gained a full-time job as a mechanic at West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) where I completed my Apprenticeship. My day-to-day duties include the service and maintenance of the entire ambulance fleet as well as running repairs during the day if needed. I absolutely love working on the vehicles, problem solving and the variety of work on a day-to-day basis!
I now aim to increase my knowledge in the motor trade before hopefully working my way up into management roles. On the job experience is what a lot of employers look for nowadays so I’d definitely encourage others to go down this route as an Apprenticeship gives you that as well as recognised qualifications! Walsall College was an enjoyable place to learn with a relaxed atmosphere and tutors who were always willing to help when you needed support.
