A Walsall College student undertaking an Access to Apprenticeship course has been offered a Summer job by the company he has been on placement with.

Ryan Chadwick (16) has been working at Walsall based company, Comid Valve Services as part of his Access to Apprenticeship programme, which will provide him with the skills and experience to develop to a full Apprenticeship next year.

Ken Stocking, Workshop Supervisor at Comid Valve Services said, “Ryan has been a very good worker and has fitted in well with the team. The Summer period is always busy for us, so we are delighted to be in the position to offer Ryan a full time job during this time”.

Student Ryan Chadwick said, “The Access to Apprenticeship course in Engineering has been brilliant, I’ve enjoyed everything about it. I would much rather get hands on experience than sit and read about things in text books. I’m chuffed to have been offered work over the Summer – I plan to build up my experience and then want to move onto a full Apprenticeship in Engineering”.

Jeanette Breckles, Employer Engagement Officer at Walsall College commented, “Ryan has impressed Comid with his hard work and commitment. He has arrived for work on time each week, even during the recent snow. Ryan has really grown in confidence and I am sure he will go on to do well in his chosen career”.
