Mission Possible for Students

On Thursday 15 October, professional dance company State of Emergency performed their show, Mission Possible in Walsall College’s brand new performance space, The Venue.

During their visit, State of Emergency, presented their sparkling show, which exposes the male psyche, combining street, hip hop, physical theatre and contemporary dance.

Leading Black British choreographers Jeanefer Jean-Charles, Kwesi Johnson and Colin Poole performed three pieces of dance theatre that put male relationships under the microscope, exploring role models and male perspectives on life.

The audience, which included some of Walsall College’s Performing Arts students, also had a chance to get involved in a workshop, where they could learn some of the moves for themselves.

Daniel Prosser, Manager of The Venue said, “The show was extremely successful. State of Emergency put on a stunning and lively performance and the professional workshop was enjoyed by all. The Performing Arts students who participated will now have a lot of ideas to help them prepare for their dance performances in the first week of November”.
