Linda's the Business at Enterprise!

Former Walsall College Enterprise student Linda Whitehouse will soon be launching her own business development company, Acorn Solutions, specifically aimed at young entrepreneurs.

Linda, who has many years experience in working on business development projects, both in the UK and in Europe, took a part time course at Walsall College’s Enterprise Academy this year to fine tune her skills and set her own business up.

Linda’s business will be officially launched in August and will help local residents and would be entrepreneurs pursue a career or self employment by providing a mentoring and coaching service. Acorn Solutions will be based within Walsall College for the first year, with a view to rolling out to other parts of the West Midlands. Linda has already secured a contract with Walsall College to assist the Enterprise Academy in developing local talent and has also had a number of other business interests.

The Walsall College Enterprise Academy provides entrepreneurial students with the necessary business skills and know-how that will give them the edge when setting up their own business. Enterprise students at Walsall College also have the unique opportunity to use the college as a base to start up their company in a specialised Business Incubation Centre.

During her studies at Walsall College, Linda went through the process of evolving her business idea and developing the skills that will help her make the business a success. Walsall College Tutor Mo Bashir commented, “I knew from the beginning that Linda had highly developed business strategies and the drive to achieve her dream of launching her own company. Linda’s studies at the Enterprise Academy allowed her to further develop her skills and target market.

I am sure that with Linda’s finely tuned skills and flair for business, Acorn Business Solutions will be extremely successful”.

Linda Whitehouse added, “New businesses traditionally take around 18 months to get off the ground. We aim to speed up this whole process through flexible fast track courses that encourage and empower entrepreneurs to develop their business ideas and unique selling points.
