Fearne Cotton to Play Finale at Urban Festival

One of Britain’s most popular DJs and TV presenters Fearne Cotton is to DJ at the Walsall College Urban Festival, it was revealed today.

The Radio 1 mid-morning show host will play a one-and-a-half hour set at the free event on Wednesday 18 November.

Organisers said they were thrilled to have added Fearne to the line-up and urged people to register for tickets as soon as possible to avoid missing out.

Fearne, aged 28, has presented top shows such as the BBC Children In Need Appeal, The Brit Awards and Top of the Pops, not to mention Radio 1’s UK Top 40 and her recent promotion to her own weekday show.

College principal Amarjit Basi said: “We are overjoyed that Fearne Cotton will be DJing at our Urban Festival. Stepping into the spotlight at just 15-years-old and with her enthusiasm for the arts and vast experience of radio, TV and more recently fashion design, who better for our students to look to as a role model?

“The Walsall Urban Festival will be an event for the entire community, and we believe Fearne is perfectly placed to appeal to families, students and part-time learners alike. As a focal point for the regeneration of Walsall, the College’s festival will welcome the diverse communities of Walsall to celebrate the phenomenal facilities we can now offer the town.”

The announcement of Fearne Cotton as headline DJ follows other recent additions to the day’s line-up, with former Education Secretary Lord Kenneth Baker set for the official VIP opening and the X-Factor’s own Walsall starlet, Demi Cullum, to support.

The day-long festival will celebrate the official opening of the College’s spectacular £64million Wisemore Campus.

With an abundance of activities for both students and the local community to get involved in, including crime scene investigation, fashion show and Ready Steady Cook style challenge, the Urban Festival will be a day to remember.

The Urban Festival will also be hosting the final of the borough’s very first Walsall’s Got Teen Talent competition, where young hopefuls will compete to be crowned Walsall’s most talented teen.
