Craig's Flying High
Former Travel & Tourism student Craig Morris (19) recently returned to Walsall College to give a presentation to current students about his career success since gaining qualifications here.
Since achieving level 2 First Diploma in Travel & Tourism, Craig took NVQ Level 2 and 3 Apprenticeship in Travel & Tourism with Performance Through People. He has now gone on to become a member of Thomas Cook’s Cabin Crew and is doing the job of his dreams.
Craig explained, “I studied Travel & Tourism at Walsall College as I’ve always loved to travel and have been a keen plane spotter most of my life.
“Since achieving my qualifications I have gone on to join Thomas Cook as a member of Air Cabin Crew. The selection process was extremely rigorous and quite nerve wracking so I feel really lucky to have been selected. I’ve now been a fully fledged member of Thomas Cook Cabin Crew for 4 weeks and I’ve already been as far a field as Toronto, Canada.
“To me, being paid to be onboard is amazing and I am really loving the job. I enjoy meeting people and making friends – my friends on Facebook have doubled in the last few weeks! I’m very proud to be the face of Thomas Cook when Im working. It’s not just about pushing a trolley up and down the aisle, in reality you’re a policeman, paramedic and fire-fighter as well, and you have to be prepared for any eventuality.
“My ultimate goal is to become a pilot. Every time I fly and go onto the flight deck I always say to myself that’s where I want to be and I will be as soon as I can”.
