Business Boost for Student
Walsall College Enterprise student, Talli Bungar was recently presented with a cheque for £1500 by Principal and Chief Executive, Amarjit Basi. Talli, who has started her company through the Enterprise Academy’s Innovation Launch Pad, has been awarded the Business Grant by Walsall Council to expand her new business.
Explaining her business, Talli said, “Making clothes has always been my hobby – I’ve enjoyed sewing since I was at school and even taught my mother how to sew. Now that my children have grown up, I feel it is now the right time to focus on my own goals and fulfil my dream of running a successful business.
With the support of the Enterprise Academy, I have been able to set up my own business, Styles 2 Suit, offering made to wear and made to measure ladies Asian suits. The course has given me a vital overview of Marketing and Research and has given me the experience that will help me develop my business. The staff at the Enterprise Academy have got a lot of experience in business and really give you that extra push to get things done.
I am delighted I have been awarded this grant by Walsall Council – I will use this money to invest in up to date sewing machines that will increase the professional finish and quality of the clothes I produce. What I like about the Innovation Launch Pad is that the support doesn’t stop as soon as you have set your business up, they will continue to provide support and help the business grow.
Phil Wootton, Head of Innovation and Applied Technology at Walsall College said, “Talli has put in a lot of hard work and is extremely deserving of this grant. Talli has got the right skills, experience and attitude to make her business a success and we will be there to support her as she takes her business to the next level. We are now working together to develop a website that will allow her to expand her business on a national scale”.
