Book Fair Success
Walsall College Foundation Art and Design learners staged an innovative exhibition of their work on Thursday 30th April, after a private viewing for friends and family on Wednesday evening.
The annual Artists Book Fair, which is part of the College’s Enrichment programme, is organised by the students from start to finish and is a great way for students to exhibit their work for public display.
The brief given to the students was to explore the essence of books through a variety of media and students have really stepped up to the mark, creating a range of innovative works, from wall based art to photography and film.
Walsall College Art Tutor Andrew Holmes commented, “The students are approaching the end of their Foundation Art and Design course which sets them up to work at university standard, so the quality of work they have produced is exceptionally high. Each learner has created a personal response to the brief, bringing their own specialist areas to their pieces, including fine art, graphic design and 3D design.”
Walsall College Foundation Art and Design student Becky Townrow said, “We’ve all worked really hard on making the exhibition a success. We see it as a platform to bring us together, encouraging discussion and exchange of opinions amongst students, participants and visitors”.
