Thirteen members of staff at Walsall company MacNeillie, have recently been successful in achieving level 2 NVQs in Team Leading after receiving onsite training by Walsall College.

As the market leader in specialist vehicle conversions and a long-established supplier to the emergency services and the military, MacNeillie are committed to ensuring staff are highly skilled and qualified, with a firm focus on staff development.

All training and assessment was delivered onsite at MacNeillie, causing minimal disruption to output. HR Manager, Helen Welch said, “The training was carried out very smoothly. The Assessor worked alongside the staff with no disruption at all in a very busy department”.

All thirteen members of staff achieved their qualifications and were presented with their official certificates by Walsall College Business Account Manager, Diane Platt.

Richard Emery, Body Build Supervisor said: “The training was a good experience, it made me sit down and think about my current job and realise how I solve problems on a daily basis. I enjoyed the onsite training in my place of work as it was easy to access and meant I could still get on with my job”.

Paul Wells, Chargehand added: “I enjoyed the course and the one to one support offered by the assessor. I am from a manual handling background so a Team Leading course is different to the kind of things I am used to learning. It was great to get a broader view of what work is being done from the office, as well as the shop floor and the skills I have learned will help me when I take the step up in the future”.

Lisa Killgallon, Walsall College NVQ Assessor said: “This course had been selected In order to share best practice and standardise current working practice to all front line supervision and management. It was imperative that all those involved embraced the learning journey despite busy work schedules and customer SLA commitment. Successful completion was achieved by all candidates and minimal disruption was managed with continued professionalism and determination. MacNeillie has an excellent, committed and motivated workforce, demonstrating expert skills and knowledge in a very specific skill set”.
