Taking Action Against Bullying
On Monday 15th November, Walsall Children’s Services – Serco and Walsall College worked in partnership against bullying, by hosting an anti-bullying workshop event entitled, ‘Taking Action Together’.
Taking place at Walsall College’s Wisemore Campus during national Anti-Bullying Week, the conference was an opportunity for children and young people in the local area to deliver and attend workshops around the issue of bullying.
This year’s Anti-Bullying Week theme shines a light on bullying, sending a clear and positive message that it is neither acceptable nor inevitable in our schools and communities.
There were also a number of activities going on throughout the day for attendees, including workshops, tours of Walsall College, a Big Brother diary room, a virtual dance performance and information stands.
There was also a launch of 300 balloons in the courtyard of Wisemore Campus, to signify the end of the event and show our continued support against bullying.
June Morrow, Director of Learner Journey at Walsall College, said: “Here at Walsall College, we have a robust anti-bullying policy and we are proactive in tackling any issues our students may have”.
Sharon Tott, Head of Service Access and Entitlement at Walsall Children’s Services – Serco, stated: “I am very pleased to see this event building upon the success of Walsall’s Annual Anti-bullying Conference and showcasing excellent Partnership working.
“Our aim is to ensure that there is a coordinated approach, to send a clear message to all within our school and communities that bullying and harassment behaviours are unacceptable. We seek to support all schools in creating a culture of openness which promotes the management of bullying as the responsibilities of us all”.
