SWEDEit Success
Two groups of Walsall College Media students recently made it to the top five of the SWEDEit film making competition.
Created by Broadway Plaza and ACM Cinema, in conjunction with Kerrang Radio, the competition was launched across the Midlands to entice would-be film buffs, students and any budding stars to re-create iconic movies, whilst helping to raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
The swede it craze is derived from an online phenomenon revived by Hollywood star Jack Black and is all about re-creating your favourite film or a special movie moment in a short clip, on a low budget.
Walsall College Media students contributed five films which were screened at the AMC cinema Five ways, Birmingham during an event hosted by Kerrang Radio DJ and former Big Brother winner, Kate Lawler.
Media Lecturer, Matt Reynolds said: “We are extremely pleased with our students’ achievement in a competition that included university students. We are very proud that our Level 2 and Level 3 National Diploma students are involved in film competitions often dominated by higher education students. The hosts of the competition are looking forward to our entries again next year”.
