Success at the Walsall Disability Awards
On Wednesday 20th April, the Supported Learning department won the Caldmore Housing Physical Disability Award at the annual Walsall Disability Awards.
Hosted by the Walsall Disability Forum, the event was held at Banks’s Stadium to acknowledge organisations, groups and individuals within the Borough who have worked in partnership with the local authority and voluntary sector to deliver a project or service that has benefited people with disabilities.
Organisations and individuals nominated for this award were recognised for the work they do with people with learning disabilities and learning difficulties. To win this award against some strong nominations is an outstanding achievement for the Supported Learning department and Walsall College.
Paul Bagnall, Curriculum Manager for SLDD said: “The recognition we received by winning this award is a testament to all SLDD staff. It recognises the hard work, commitment, dedication and outstanding work of all SLDD staff on a daily basis, who ensure that each learner enjoys their time at college and develops the necessary skills in order for them to achieve and progress. Winning this award would not have been possible without the dedication of the team”.
“On behalf of all SLDD Staff, I would also like to extend our thanks to all CSA’s, Interpreters, Note takers and the Inclusive Support Team. The support they give our learners and our team is excellent, and our jobs would be much more difficult without them”.
