After the outstanding success of their Winter spectacular, Walsall College Creative Arts students recently staged a vibrant Spring Festival in the College’s Wisemore Campus theatre, The Venue.

The Spring Festival was an exciting collaboration between performing arts and music teams, offering an eclectic mix of live music, dance and theatre.

The festival included ‘Boi Doi’, where first year Performing Arts students performed scenes from Miss Saigon, telling the story of the illegitimate children of the Vietnam War. First Diploma Performing Arts students presented ‘My Imaginary Friend’, the story of a young girl’s struggle growing up with mental health problems.

Music students performed ‘The Spring Sessions’, a selection of live pop, rock and soul covers. Dance students hosted ‘The Spring Collective’, an evening of movement and dance devised and choreographed by students and lecturers.

Creative Arts Lecturer, Julie Wright said: “We are delighted with the quality and range of the work our students have produced. Not only has the festival been a chance for family, friends and members of the public to see the students perform, the performances will also form part of their assessments. The festival is a fantastic combination of drama, dance and music, and we are hoping to stage more of these events in the future”.
