Walsall College Dance students performed a flash mob dance routine to classic 90s pop song ‘I’ve got the Power’ by Snap, at a trade show at the Ricoh Arena this week and helped a manufacturing company liven up the unveiling of its rebrand.

30 students performed the routine at The Executive Hire Show on Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th February where ArcGen Hilta, a supplier of on-site power equipment, revealed it had changed its name to Morris Site Machinery.

The Executive Hire Show is the main exhibition for the tools, plant and equipment hire industry. The students were commissioned by midlands-based advertising agency, Seal to perform four flash mobs over the two days and add some excitement around their client’s announcement.

During the performances, students revealed t-shirts they were wearing underneath jumpers showing the new name, which caused intrigue among visitors and the company’s customers at the show.

Dance Tutor, Julie Wright said: “The flash mob gave students a chance to gain real work experience and use their skills to raise awareness of a commercial company. It was well received by onlookers and it also showed that they have the ability to perform to all types of audiences.”
