Walsall College higher education students paraded to Walsall Town Hall in their caps and gowns on Friday 25th November, to officially open their formal Graduation Ceremony.

During the parade, students brought Walsall town centre to life with their achievements, accompanied by Town Crier, Cyril Richardson, who was shouting about their success on higher education courses.

Over 450 attendees were present at the ceremony, including students, family and friends and lecturers. The high achieving students received certificates for success on such courses as Higher National Diplomas (HNDs), Higher National Certificates (HNCs) and Foundation Degrees in the College’s five key clusters: Business & Professional, Creative Industries, Digital & Technology, Health & Public Services and Services to People. Special awards were also presented to students for outstanding achievement.

In the current economic climate, studying higher education courses at college is increasingly popular, giving students a more cost effective route to achieving a university degree. Many of the students who graduated will now be going on to top up to degree level at university or to put their skills to use in the workplace.

Walsall College Principal and Chief Executive Jat Sharma, said: “By choosing to study higher education, our students have equipped themselves with the skills, knowledge and experience to succeed, as they go on to study at university or gain employment in their chosen industry.

“All students who picked up their certificates at the ceremony should be extremely proud of their achievements and I speak on behalf of everybody at Walsall College when I wish them every success in the future”.
